Christopher Nolan's Ajrakh Silk Tie Puts an Indian Craft on a Global Red Carpet

At the New York premiere of The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan paired his tailored suit with a hand-block printed silk tie made using the centuries-old Ajrakh technique from Kutch, Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan. The piece was custom-made by New York-based Indian menswear designer Aahaan Tandon, who confirmed on Instagram that it was handcrafted in traditional Ajrakh silk. The moment is a reminder that a slow, hand-worked print can hold its own on the world's biggest stages, and that thoughtful accessories are one of the simplest ways this heritage textile keeps finding new audiences.
